After an accident: many questions, one point of contact
Who pays? Is an assessor’s report needed? Where does the car go? After an accident you have enough on your plate – and putting off the claim costs time and sometimes money, for instance when insurance deadlines pass or a small dent starts to rust.
That is why we stay your point of contact from start to finish: you bring the car to us, we inspect the damage, work out the next steps and organise the repair. We do the mechanical work ourselves; bodywork and paint are handled by our regular partner shop.
What we do ourselves – and what our partner handles
We do not have a paint booth. Instead we work with a regular partner shop for bodywork and paint. Nothing changes for you – drop-off and collection are with us.
What we take care of for you
- Damage inspection, photos, assessment: assessor’s report or estimate?
- Mechanical repairs done by us: axle, steering, radiator, lights, suspension
- Bodywork and paint: coordination and hand-over to our partner shop, return to us
- Help with the insurance claim – the other party’s liability insurer or your own fully comprehensive policy
- Final check before you get your car back
Not included
- We do not carry out bodywork or paint ourselves – our partner shop does
- The assessor’s report is written by an independent expert, not by us
- No legal advice – if fault is disputed, a traffic-law solicitor can help
What happens after the accident
You call us – we coordinate the rest.
Call or drop by
Call us or bring the car in. If it is no longer driveable, we discuss how to get it to us.
Inspection
We look at the damage and decide with you whether an assessor’s report is needed or an estimate is enough – and how to proceed with the insurer.
Repair
We repair the mechanics. Our partner shop handles bodywork and paint; we take the car there and bring it back. We let you know when it is ready.
Collection from us
You collect your finished car from us. You receive the invoice and the documents for the insurer from us.
Who pays for what?
Price per assessor’s report or estimate. If the insurer pays, we settle directly with them where possible. If hidden damage shows up during the repair, we report it – to you and, if needed, to the assessor – before we continue.
For claims on your own fully comprehensive policy your excess applies; the amount is in your policy.
Right after the accident: Secure the scene, call 112 if anyone is injured. Take photos of the damage and the scene, note the other driver’s name, number plate and insurer. Do not sign any admission of fault.
Frequently asked questions
Your question is not here? Call us. We answer straight away.
Who pays for the repair?
If the accident was not your fault, the other driver’s third-party liability insurance normally pays – for the repair and usually for the assessor’s report too. If it was your fault, it depends on whether you have fully comprehensive cover. We help you sort this out.
Do you do the bodywork and paint yourselves?
No. Bodywork and paint are done by our regular partner shop. You bring the car to us and collect it from us. We coordinate everything and remain your single point of contact throughout.
Do I need an assessor’s report?
For larger damage, yes – the report defines what is repaired and what the insurer pays. For minor damage a written estimate is often enough. We tell you what makes sense in your case.
Can I choose the workshop myself, or does the insurer decide?
If the other driver was at fault, you are free to choose the workshop. For a claim on your own fully comprehensive policy it depends on your contract: some tariffs with a workshop clause require one of the insurer’s partner garages. Check your policy or ask us – we go through it together.
How long does the repair take?
That depends on the damage, the assessor’s report and parts delivery times. Minor damage is often done within a few days, larger repairs take longer. After inspecting the car we give you a realistic estimate.
